We warmly invite you to Wisdom of Compassion, a series of three modules presenting a complete introduction to the logic of compassion and how to put it into practice every day.
This program offers a thorough presentation of:
1. the view of impermanence and interdependence that underpins our compassion practices,
2. the transformative practice of ‘equalizing self and others’, and
3. a complete tool kit to apply this every day.
These three modules will be held on Tuesday evenings, in person in Melbourne and Sydney, and online.
Module 3 – Bring a Big Heart to Everything that You Do
Much as we may wish to be kind, caring and loving, often this may be difficult for us in practice. As we move from wishing to be more compassionate to grappling with how we put this into action, the Buddhist teachings include six tools in a how-to guide:
- Generosity: cultivating the attitude of generosity.
- Discipline: refraining from harm.
- Patience: not being perturbed by anything.
- Diligence: finding joy in what is virtuous, positive or wholesome.
- Meditative concentration: not being distracted.
- Wisdom: the perfect discrimination of all knowable things.
These are known as the Six Paramitas, or transcendent perfections and contain all the vital skills needed for us to transform our mind and open our heart.
