Karma simply means actions. It refers to our actions through our body, speech and mind (thoughts). Karma is often invoked by Buddhists as a way of explaining what has happened, usually by referring back to some deeds in past lives that we cannot remember. This may give a sense of comfort in the face of uncertainty, as if we have everything under control because we can explain everything with karma. However, the Buddha’s teaching of karma may also be understood as forward-looking and empowering in spite of an uncertain future. In this workshop we will work on the different aspects of the karma teaching. By repeatedly affirming our intention and direction through our choices and actions, we can create a happier life in the face of change and unpredictability.
This workshop features several sessions of guided meditations with explanations and time for Q&A or discussion. All are welcome; no prerequisite needed.
