Around the world, Sunday is a day for rest and wellness, and is often the best opportunity in our busy week to release stress and tension. Doing this helps us take care of our physical and mental wellbeing.

Nan Tien Temple understands that meditation is one of the most effective practices for reducing stress and anxiety, and for inviting in calm and peace to your body and mind. Here are just some of the amazing benefits of meditation:

Temple believes everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy these benefits of regular meditation, regardless of location as well as the challenging circumstances currently facing our society with the COVID-19 pandemic.

So, a free weekly online meditation class has been introduced! Every Sunday 3-4PM a Zoom link is made available through which attendees will be guided by the Venerable through a traditional Temple chanting procession, guided meditation, and dharma discussion.

For those who wish to attend Temple but are unable to, the technology is used to bring Temple to you. As the class begins with the chanting procession, Zoom screen share is used to display the 5 Buddha from the main shrine, along with audio from the typical chanting procession performed here, to recreate the experience for you regardless of where you may be spending your Sunday.

Humbly take refuge in the Triple Gem, the Heart Sutra, and perform a Transfer of the Merits, before beginning a journey of total peace and calm through the guided meditation. Perfect for a Sunday of wellness, explore how to mindfully release tension from your body and mind, as you cultivate presence awareness and connect with your inner self.

Following the meditation, enjoy an opportunity to learn about Dharma perspectives on a chosen topic each week. For example, what does Buddhism have to say about the nature of true happiness? Attendees are invited to ask any questions they may have and share any ideas.
