Some realities in life are difficult to accept- getting sick, getting old, being separated from loved ones, not getting what you want, and others. How can the Four Noble Truths help us face and be at peace with these realities? What is Nirodha – the extinguishing of cravings and thirst? How can the Noble Eightfold Path, starting with right view/attitude, help us to suffer less in life? Learn how your inner world works, and how to be present and mentally focused for deep peace.
About the presenter: Ven. T.M Hoa Pham (Ayya Dhammananda) is a Theravada nun, initially ordained in a Zen lineage in Vietnam. She later spent 5 years in Burma, learning and practicing various meditation techniques, including Vipassanā, insight meditation. She spent 6 years practicing in Sri Lanka, completing her MA and PhD at the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya. In 2008, she was invited to teach Theravada Buddhism and meditation in Australia. She also worked as a chaplain in a women’s detention centre in Victoria.
Venerable moved to Honolulu in 2013, teaching Buddha Dhamma at Bodhi Tree Meditation Center.
