Event Details
This is a flowing meditation movement class where participants will practice Tai Chi (in the Yang style) with some accompanying Qigong. The instructor, Raul Bassa, will guide participants through some limbering and Qigong dynamic and static practices, and then focus on Tai Chi, before finishing with a closing meditative practice.
Participants will learn and practice the three Tai Chi Chuan Yang forms (the 24 Form movements, the 42 Form movements and the 48 Form movements) as well as the Swimming Dragon Form. These centuries-old Chinese styles of exercise complement each other and have many benefits. Tai Chi is a way of bringing balance to the mind and the body. Qigong, through its combination of regulated breathing, concentration and gentle movements, rejuvenates the body.
The class is suitable for beginners to advanced levels.
Suggested donation: $10 (No one will be turned away because of a lack of funds. Please speak to the instructor)
Teacher’s profile: Raul Bassa has been practising Tai Chi and Qigong since 1992. He has learned from a number of traditional Chinese Tai Chi masters and is familiar with Static Style and Fluid Style Qigong. He has studied the principle Qigong meridian points (Zen acupressure). Raul is a retired teacher who lives in Sydney. As well as Tai Chi and Qigong, he practices Yoga and meditation every day.
