Cultivating the Four Brahma Viharas
The Four Brahma Viharas — ‘Divine Abodes’ or ‘Immeasurables’ — are four related qualities of the heart-mind which the Buddha encouraged us to cultivate in our lives, as their wholesome and expansive qualities can bring great benefit to oneself and others. They are profound states, or expressions of heart-mind which we can learn to recognise, cultivate, and rely on as we practice our spiritual path and serve as kalyanamittas, or spiritual friends, in the world.
