Indian Yoga tradition also works on the body to nourish the Prana, which is what they call life energy; it aims to work through the Nadis, energy channels, and Chakras.

Raul will work with both disciplines and integrate them, to give the students a possibility to improve their overall health and a wider understanding of their own practice; as well as train focusing their awareness within their own innermost being.

As sentient beings, we experience the world through our minds, and every moment is a new opportunity to perceive it differently. The world as we see it is a creation of our mind, shaped by our beliefs, experiences, and emotions. Science and technology have advanced thanks to our ability to understand the world around us, yet we have not still fully explored the functionality of our own minds. The mind is like a tool, one we’ve had since birth, yet don’t know how to properly use which, quite obviously, results in day-to-day troubles and mental health issues.

This month’s Sangha Gathering will present highlights from the transformational teachings that Sogyal Rinpoche gave in Myall Lakes in 2014.These teachings on the nature of mind contain extraordinarily clear advice about how to apply our realization to work with our attitudes and overcome our habitual tendencies. Rinpoche shows us with great skill and compassion how to distinguish between the nature of mind and our ordinary, deluded mind. He also explains how we can gradually learn to remain in the essence of mind rather than return to our confused, samsaric mind.

In 2024, our Sangha Gatherings will present material from The Way of the Great Perfection, the latest cycle of the All-Encompassing Path to Enlightenment.

In this advanced course we will look at how to utilise these techniques to nurture mindfulness, wisdom and compassion conducive to our genuine happiness.

Each weekly session will include explanation, guided meditation and Q&A. No prerequisite required. All are welcome.

First Saturday of each month

Qigong works to restore and maintain Qi / Chi energy through gentle and repetitive movements that benefit both young and old. It improves cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, and digestive functions. The ultimate aim of ancient Qigong practice is to refine and clear one’s body, emotions, and mental and psychic energy. This ability to integrate and heal is part of the journey to becoming a mature, balanced adult.

In this retreat, we will engage in meditations on the conventional nature of our mind to develop meditative concentration (or shamtha), with emphasis on the cultivation of the qualities of spaciousness, bliss and stillness. Then we will explore the ultimate nature of the mind to develop insight (or vipassana), with emphasis on investigating the relationship between awareness and thoughts.

The retreat will include guided and silent meditations, with explanations on the practice and time for Q&A or discussion.

Our Senior Teacher, Sherab Leypold, will be sharing a special collection of teachings that Sogyal Rinpoche gave at Myall Lakes in January 2016. In celebration of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Rigpa Sydney, invites everyone to an interfaith evening exploration of love.

Rigpa’s meditation leaders will offer a guided loving kindness meditation.
