Becoming a Buddhist Scripture (SRE) teacher

Can you teach Buddhism to young people? Many of our teachers didn't think they could until they started. All we ask is for a sincere heart and a genuine interest in imparting values and life skills to young people. With a basic knowledge of Dharma, you will be able to provide young people with a spiritual foundation for life.

So, if you are a committed Buddhist with some free time during school hours, we need you. Our teachers have a choice of teaching in primary schools or secondary schools, in a location of their choice. The choice of schools is due to the many schools on our waiting list that do not yet have a Buddhist teacher.

All teachers must be aware of the welfare of the children and because the Buddhist Council is the responsible body for what is taught by its teachers, the code of conduct should be followed to protect the welfare of children.

To qualify you are only required to have a basic knowledge the Buddha’s teaching as only elementary topics are taught. You can find out more about the experiences of our volunteer teachers, by going to http://walkingbuddhaspath.blogspot.com/

For more information, you can contact our SRE Team by emailing education@buddhistcouncil.org
