The Buddhist Council of NSW is the peak body recognised by the Department of Health and the Civil Chaplaincies Advisory Committee (CCAC) to represent the Buddhist community and Buddhist chaplains in New South Wales.

As part of the Chaplaincy Program the Buddhist Council arranges the appointment of part-time chaplains, or pastoral care visitors who make regular (weekly) visits. We also support the needs of chaplains, administer paperwork and arrange CPE training.

Institutions are free to contact other Buddhist chaplains that they already know, especially for emergency or crisis situations. The Buddhist Council can also be contacted to find a suitable Buddhist chaplain of a particular Buddhist tradition, language, or cultural group in an emergency.
