A priority initiative for us is to establish a program where we can, in a structured and consistent fashion, assist members with problems, queries and “back-office” solutions that are both common to all organisations in New South Wales, and unique to Buddhist organisations in today’s society.

The Buddhist Council of New South Wales (‘BCNSW’) is thus pleased to provide members with ‘Member Help’, an advisory/referral service to make it easier for members to operate their organisation in an efficient, transparent and low-risk manner. We sincerely hope that this will result in member organisations experiencing an increased seamlessness in its operation and that the spread of the dharma will naturally be able to follow suit.

At the same time, we hope to be able to provide an easy conduit for Buddhist volunteers who wish volunteer their professional services and time in assisting the common Buddhist cause.

At this point in time, the BCNSW welcomes queries from members in relation to the following issues:

  • Governance
  • Legal & Compliance
  • Donations & Fundraising
  • Financial/Accounting
  • Tax
  • Cheaper Insurance
  • Visas
  • Sustainability
  • Technology

This list is by no means exhaustive and we encourage both members and volunteers to give us feedback as to how this program can better serve our members.

Governance

One key aim of the BCNSW is to promote good governance; to encourage and assist member organisations to adopt and adhere to best practices for their unique organisational type. We believe that efforts to put in place a stable governance structure and foundation will yield exponential benefits in the long run, especially in terms of clarity and transparency of organisational operation.
